"I have just spent one of the most educational weeks of my career doing a preceptorship at Sajune Medical Center. Even though our time together was shortened due to the July 4th holiday and my work schedule, the amount of patients observed and the symptoms reviewed was intense. Sajune Medical Center has numerous things to offer: bio-identical hormone treatments, weight management, acupuncture, chiropractic treatments, aesthetics, IV nutrition, supplements, and much more. Their facility is beautifully decorated which helps you to relax once you walk in the door.
I needed help to be more comfortable managing bio-identical hormones, writing compounding scripts and lab interpretation. You have been through this before, the labs are normal but the patient is telling you they are sick. You will be able to approach problems such as fatigue, insomnia, decrease libido, weight gain, depression, IBS, fibromyalgia differently to restore the patient back to a more youthfull state of mind and body. I would normally not be able to spend the amount of time during their visit to accomplish all of this due to insurance restrictions. Dr. Pati and Zena, executive director, can even help you to change your insurance practice over to a cash-for-service practice.
After spending just a few days with the doctors I feel much better about doing this. I will be able to start once I get my computerized templates updated.
There is a 5-point model: hormones, nutrition, toxins, mind and body. The goal is to optimize the functional and reparative status of the body. To do this, you need to replace hormones, supply the body with nutrients, get rid of the junk to allow the body to optimize function, free your mind of stress, free your body of pain. I would suggest taking every patient down this pathway regardless of their initial complaint. It will make your life so much easier.
Dr. Pati has prepared detailed handouts that you can review and use in your own office. She has a very relaxed approach to dealing with complicated patients that have been referred to her. My special thanks to her on making me feel welcome in her busy schedule. She took extra personal time before and after scheduled work hours to help me review patient management and protocols. Dr. Pati helped me with my own personal consultation. She will review my lab results by phone. Dr. Ilagand has helped me to work through the IV nutrition protocols. Thanks to Juanita, nurse practitioner, she gave me a little cheat sheet of the optimal labs values that help my immensely to get through the week.
If you are seriously considering a preceptorship, call Sajune and have them give you my office phone number. I can give you more details on my experience.
All the office staff are very friendly even though I may not have had a lot of direct contact hours with all of them. They help do multi-tasks in the office, more than their job titles imply. All of them would stop and answer my questions in the middle of their workday.
Alix, (Receptionist). Before the patient leaves, she re-reviews all the doctor?s instructions with the patient so they don?t feel like their head is going to explode with all the info given to them during their office visit. She did an excellent job with the patient?s.
Ray, (Receptionist). He was very helpful to keep me updated on the physician?s schedules so I could plan my day. He is a good source of info for your front desk.
Margaret, (Massage Therapist and IR Director). She can give one wicked-good massage. Watch out for those hot stones, ha-ha! She has tons of info on the 8-week plant diet. Suggest all doc?s and staff go through this to see what you are asking of your patients if not for your own well-being.
Jasmine, (Medical Assistant). She can help you prepare all the IV nutrition solutions and supplies needed. She has been a great source of info on getting your supplies together for ordering.
Zena. (Executive Director). She was great help in getting ready for the preceptorship. She will send you your manuals ahead of time. Make sure you read them before you go. Great source to help you with some insurance billing issues she has had to work through." |
