While we try to protect ourselves from swine flu and other flus, we have to remind ourselves that most people with good immunity get the flu and fight it off; most do not die from it. First and foremost, get plenty of air, water, sunshine, rest, laughter and stress relief to boost immunity.
Signs and symptoms
The Center for Disease Control (CDC) states that: “Infected persons are potentially infectious from the day prior to illness onset until resolution of fever. Infected persons should be assumed to be contagious up to 7 days from illness onset. Some persons who are infected might potentially be contagious for longer periods (e.g. young infants, immunosuppressed, and immunocompromised persons).
Symptoms can include any or all of the following: Fever over 100’F • Cough • Sore throat • Body aches • Headache • Chills • Fatigue • Diarrhea • Vomiting
If you have symptoms: Please isolate yourself (stay home). Contact the hospital or urgent care center if you are very sick or at high risk for complications as soon as possible for possible testing and antiviral medications. You may be ill for a week or longer. Stay at home for at least 24 hours after the fever is gone (without the use of fever-reducing medicines), except to get medical care or necessities---wear a surgical mask (single-use) if leaving your home.

Prevention of transmission:
- Disinfect all surfaces of transmission frequently (door knobs, telephones, work spaces, key boards) with household-grade disinfectants according to product labels.
- Use clothing or paper towel to open public door handles.
- Wash hands frequently. Soap and warm water should be rubbed between fingers for 15-20 seconds. A paper towel should be used to dry hands, to turn off the faucet and open door handles. Disinfect hands with alcohol-based gels if hand washing facilities are unavailable.
- Do not touch your eyes, nose or mouth until you disinfect your hands.
- Use a tissue to cover your nose and mouth when coughing/sneezing and discard the tissue in the trash immediately. If tissue is unavailable, cough or sneeze into your elbow or shirtsleeve and avoid the hands.
- Limit exposure to public gatherings.
Scientifically proven ways to boost immunity:
- Take 5000 IU to 10,000 IU per day of Vitamin D3
- Stay on a high dose multivitamin mineral (like Essentials 5-in-1) with Vitamin A
- Stay on a strong upper and lower bowel probiotic (like PureBiotic 1c 3X), which provide a protective barrier on all mucosal surfaces.
- Take a high dose of Vitamin C (like Vitality C) at 4 grams per day.
- Take nanosilver solution (like SilverSol) 1 tsp. twice a day by mouth.
- Use nanosilver gel (like SilverSol) to hands every 4 hours as needed; may also apply pea-sized amount of gel to each nostril twice a day.
